Non-Emergency Medical Transportation in Shirley, IN
Safe, reliable rides for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Why Choose Us
Shirley is a town of about 700 people perched along the historic US-40 corridor in eastern Henry County, and not a single hospital or specialty clinic sits inside town limits. Every appointment turns into a drive — about 11 miles northeast to Henry Community Health in New Castle, 12 miles west to Hancock County Senior Services in Greenfield, or close to an hour down I-70 to the IU Health and Ascension St. Vincent campuses in Indianapolis and Anderson. We provide door-to-door non-emergency medical transportation from Shirley to all of those facilities, plus the dialysis runs, errands, and church services that hold a small town together.
Every ride begins at your front step, whether you live in town or out on a road in Stony Creek Township. Our drivers greet you by name, walk you to the van, and make sure you're settled before we pull away. When the appointment is finished, we're already in the lot waiting. It's the kind of care we'd want for our own grandparents — patient, neighborly, and worthy of a family's trust.

First time using wheelchair-accessible transport and the driver sensed my nervousness. He explained every step before doing it — ramp angle, tie-down placement, how the ride would feel. I felt informed and safe.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a ride?
The easiest way to book is to call 877-369-5457, or you can use the "Book a Ride" button on our website. For non-urgent trips, reserving 24 to 48 hours ahead works best, though same-day rides may be possible depending on driver availability around eastern Henry County.
Do you accept Medicaid, Medicare or other health insurance?
We take credit card or cash payment if you book directly with us. For payment using health plans or 3rd party-payers, you will need to contact these parties directly to secure authorization of the trips and many of them may require you to book directly through them.
How far in advance should I schedule?
Since most Shirley appointments require a drive to New Castle, Greenfield, Anderson, or Indianapolis — 15 to 45 minutes one way — please give us at least 48 hours of notice. Early-morning dialysis runs benefit from even more lead time, especially in winter when rural roads slow down.
What if I need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle?
Let us know when you book and we'll assign an appropriate van. Our accessible fleet uses ramps and secure tie-down systems and can handle manual wheelchairs, power chairs, and scooters. Share what mobility device you use so we can match you with the right vehicle and driver.
Can a family member ride along?
In nearly every case a relative or caregiver is welcome to come along at no extra cost. Tell us at the time of booking so the driver can plan the seating and be prepared for an additional passenger.

What is NEMT?
NEMT — short for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation — is a booked-in-advance ride service for anyone who needs a safe way to a medical visit but doesn't need an ambulance. Think dialysis runs, follow-up appointments, hospital discharges, and physical therapy.
It's built around riders whose options for getting around are limited: older adults who've handed over the car keys, people living with disabilities, and anyone whose health makes driving unsafe. The vehicles range from wheelchair-accessible vans with ramps and tie-downs to stretcher-equipped transport to standard vehicles with drivers trained in hands-on walking help.
Some trips are one-time — a ride home after outpatient surgery or a hospital release. Others run on a calendar: three dialysis sessions a week, monthly infusions, weekly rehab. The thread is the same — making sure people can actually get to the care that keeps them well.
Powered by Modern Technology
Every Shirley ride is dispatched through Duet, a leading NEMT software platform. That gives you live vehicle tracking, dependable scheduling, and clear communication with your driver from booking through drop-off.
More Than a Ride
Behind every booking is a family handing over the care of someone they love — a wife arranging her husband's chemo trips, a son coordinating from out of state. In a small town like Shirley, that trust is everything. We carry it every mile, because nobody waiting at home should wonder whether the ride is coming.
